The heart behind Advokit

For over eight years, I lived in the shadow of a mystery.

While in business school, just as the job hunt was heating up, my body started breaking down. A slow progression of symptoms began to hijack my life—turning simple errands into hurdles and forcing aside dreams and ambition in the face of uncertainty.

Year after year, life got harder. I remained diligent in my search for answers, which spanned 6 states, 8 hospital systems, and over 50 doctors.

By 2025, I hit a point of disability and desperation that led me to take leave from my career and throw every ounce of energy I had left into figuring this mystery out. I quite literally begged for the MRI that would finally unlock the help I needed.

The diagnosis was Acromegaly, a rare disease caused by a brain tumor.

Turning pain into purpose

An important part of my healing process has been a deep reflection on advocacy and the status quo in healthcare. The system is broken, and it is hard work to be a patient or a caregiver. If there’s one thing I learned from my own journey to diagnosis, it’s that you cannot take a passive role in your own healthcare.

But there’s a great paradox at play: Patients are expected to move their own healthcare forward, yet we are gravely ill-equipped with the toolkit to do so. ‍ ‍

An app for patients, by patients

There is no how-to guide for navigating the healthcare system, and too many of us waste precious time and money figuring it out on our own through trial and error.

Patients need a partner that moves with them through this complex ecosystem.

That’s where Advokit comes in.

Advokit is the help I wish I had in my pocket when my my health started getting more complicated—an app to empower you with the education, advocacy skills, and AI-powered tools to show up to your next appointment with confidence.

We can learn from each other.

There’s power in numbers, and there’s something we can learn from YOU. Your stories, your tips, your questions.

With your help, I’m confident that we can hack healthcare for you, me, and the next patient looking for answers.
