Introducing Advokit:

Being a patient is hard work.

Why? Fragmentation is rampant in the patient experience.

Take my story as an example. Over 8 years seeking diagnosis, the burden of managing my healthcare on my own was overwhelming and only compounded over time. With so many different points of care delivery, gaping holes emerge in the patient experience. This causes critical information and actions to fall through the gaps— wasting precious time and money and reducing quality of life.

While my case is an extreme example that exposes the hard work of being a patient, even a typical patient navigating their healthcare finds it to be a struggle. And don’t forget, with every new job, new city, new insurance, or other life changes, the experience gets even more fragmented for the patient.

Patients need a solution that moves with them through this complex ecosystem.

A great paradox of healthcare is that patients are expected to move their own healthcare forward but are gravely under-resourced when it comes to having the data, tools, and skills to do so.

That’s where Advokit comes in.

Advokit empowers patients with the education, advocacy skills, and AI-powered tools to own their health at every point of care.

Our app will be intuitive and anticipate patient needs in order to address gaps in communication, documentation, care coordination, and support.

Sound too good to be true? It’s ambitious…but absolutely doable.

How? With intention, hustle, and a deep heart for the patient.

Other solutions are half-baked and only contribute to the issue of fragmentation. For this to work, we’ll need the right cooks in the kitchen, the right ingredients, the right tools, and the right recipe.

  • A dynamic pair of co-founders with complementary skills is a must. We’ll need:

    • A business founder with a compelling patient story, business acumen, healthcare industry experience, a deep network of patients and providers, a reputation for connecting with authenticity and integrity, a keen ability to identify and articulate patient pain points, and a hunger to challenge the status quo in pursuit of a better patient experience.

    • A technical co-founder who is mission-aligned and motivated with experience in full-stack development, DevOps, architecture, and AI, and who has expertise with healthcare interoperability standards and data management.

  • Garnering patient trust will be critical. We’ll do this by acting in alignment with the following values:

    • Patient-first focus

    • Commitment to health equity

    • Transparent business model/incentives aligned with patient interest

    • No pay-for-promotion (not a vehicle for others to advertise/promote)

  • We will need an app with intuitive design. As a starting point, we’ll be tapping into tech like agentic AI.

AI will be deployed strategically and responsibly to create time for human connection, accelerate scalability, and tackle real-world issues. This is being developed with a problem-first, not solution-first approach.

There’s large potential to incorporate new capabilities as technology evolves, our resources expand, and our user base grows.

  • We’ll need to operate with intentionality from the start around:

    • Business model

    • Feature development

    • Timing

    • Target market

    • GTM strategy

That being said, Advokit needs to be adaptable as the ecosystem, technological advancements, and needs of our users change. Fortunately, there is vast potential for the business model to evolve.
