Advokit Beta Terms

Effective Date: February 23, 2026 Status: Beta Testing Phase

1. Nature of the Service (Not Medical Advice)

Advokit is a patient-empowerment tool designed to help you prepare for healthcare appointments, stay on track during discussions, summarize clinical assessments, and manage follow-up action items.

  • No Medical Advice: Advokit does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

  • Not a Medical Device: This app is a personal organizational tool and should not be relied upon for medical emergencies or as a replacement for professional clinical judgment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions regarding a medical condition.

2. Audio Recording & Legal Consent

Advokit includes technology that allows you to record your medical appointments for your personal review and summarization.

  • State Consent Laws: Recording laws vary by state. Some states are "all-party consent" states, meaning it is illegal to record a conversation unless everyone involved (including your doctor or nurse) has given their express permission.

As of 2026, these 11 states typically require the consent of all participants:

    • California

    • Delaware

    • Florida

    • Illinois

    • Maryland

    • Massachusetts

    • Montana

    • Nevada

    • New Hampshire

    • Pennsylvania

    • Washington

  • User Responsibility: It is your sole responsibility to understand and abide by the recording laws in your specific state.

  • Mandatory Consent: If you are in an "all-party consent" state, you must obtain your healthcare provider’s consent before starting a recording.

  • Building Trust: Even in "one-party consent" states, we strongly encourage all users to seek consent from their providers. Transparency helps build a stronger, more collaborative relationship with your healthcare team.

3. Data & Privacy

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you participate in our beta program.

Information We Collect

To help you manage your healthcare journey, we may collect the following:

  • Account Information: Name and email address.

  • User-Generated Content: Notes you take regarding your doctor visits, appointment dates, and prep questions.

  • Health Data: Information you voluntarily enter about your medical visits to help you advocate for your own care.

How Your Data is Used

  • To provide the core functionality of the app (organizing your visit phases: Prepare, Visit, Follow-up).

  • To gather feedback during the beta phase to improve the user experience.

  • We do not sell your data to third parties or advertisers.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures (such as HTTPS/TLS encryption) to protect your data. However, as this is a beta version, we advise against storing highly sensitive personal health information (PHI) until the final production release.

HIPAA Statement

Advokit is currently a consumer-facing tool for personal use. While we strive for high security standards, this beta version is not currently intended for use by "Covered Entities" (as defined by HIPAA) to transmit protected health information.

4. Notice of Artificial Intelligence Usage

Advokit utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) systems to assist in the collection and organization of healthcare data.

Advokit utilizes advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to power our core "Prepare, Visit, and Follow Up” features. By using these services, you acknowledge and consent to the following AI-driven processes:

  1. Preparation & Synthesis: We use AI to analyze and synthesize the information you provide during the "Prepare" phase to identify key themes and health priorities.

  2. Guide Generation: Your personalized health guides are generated using AI models. These guides are intended to facilitate better conversations with your providers and do not constitute medical diagnoses or clinical advice.

  3. Transcription & Audio Processing: When you record an appointment, we use AI to transcribe the audio into text. These recordings are processed securely; however, users should be aware that automated transcription may contain errors.

  4. Data Privacy: Your voice data and health information are used solely to generate your personal guides and transcriptions. We do not use your personal health data to "train" our public AI models.

Important: AI is a tool to support your healthcare journey, not a replacement for professional medical judgment. Always review AI-generated transcripts and guides for accuracy before making health decisions.

5. Participation in Beta

By using this beta version of Advokit, you acknowledge that the software is still in development and may contain bugs. You agree that your use of the app is at your own risk.
